   Chef Randy was terrific! However, it took our server, Soto, (without getting into too much detail), 4 attempts and 2 refunds, to produce an accurate check. Finally, a manager (Dolly) was called to resolve the issue. She handled everything effectively, promptly and professionally.

   Benihana‘s was just OK. The chef however, was great. We sat at a table at eight and there were only two of us. The restaurant was not crowded at all. It was a Monday night at 5:30. The chef cooked our dinner and got it done quickly because he did not do any of the fancy things they do because there was no one at the table but us. Waitress was not that great never came back to check on us. She came back I think once, and that was about it. The food has gone up in price, but so has the liquor. We had sake, and it seemed that the sake was a cheaper grain of sake, we noticed. It left a burnt aftertaste in the mouth.Again, the only thing that was worthwhile was the chef. And the food was good, but it is not cheap anymore. Benihana’s is more of a treat now than it is that she would go out to dinner more often.

   I've been taking my daughter here for her birthday for over 20 years. It used to be a big deal going downtown. It's still a big deal and the food is still fabulous. Never disappoints

   We enjoyed this restaurant in NY and Arizona, and Illinois was our first. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that we will return to this location. Service wasn't great, food was not as good as the other locations, and the restaurant did not appear to be clean or well maintained. In short, I don't believe that this location loved up the brand we have come to know and love.

   We made a reservation on December 29th to celebrate a 70 and 40th bday for 6. We arrived 20 minutes early and said we’d be seated at 6. At 6:10 I asked what was going on and they said they still hadn’t seated 5 o’clock reservations. They had overbooked reservations and taken too many walk in’s. The Gm stated he could ask folks to leave and they were staying really long. As I understand part of that however to not be seated until after 7 pm was crazy bad. One of the couples had a sitter. The place had no where to sit and several other folks with reservations left angry. I too would have left but it was a bday celebration ;( so I was stuck. The food is always good but man the attitude of the gm and hostess staff was awful. As frequent customers it continues to get worse and worse over the last year. It saddens me

   Service was terrible and very slow. The chef was not at all engaging. I’ve been to other hibatchi places and they did more of a show while cooking. The price was also astronomical compared to other hibatchi places. Way too much comparatively

   We had to wait over 40 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated, our server returned only once to take our drink order and did not return for the remainder of the meal.

    I was very dissatisfied with both the food and the service. Our food order was forgotten about and made at the end. Our server (not the chef) was very rude and made the experience not enjoyable. I will not be returning.
