Charming atmosphere, but both food & service was poor. Wonderful spoon bread. Salmon was overcooked. Vegetarian dish was mostly carbs topped with a very small amount of vegetables, looking like a heavy garnish. Server was consistently slow at checking on us, including not checking on us for 10-15 minutes after serving the entrees despite an uncrowded dining room. Second time we have felt this did not meet the expectations for what we assume is one of the finer dining locations in town.

Boone Tavern’s Thanksgiving dinner was perfect in every way. All the food was exceptional, dining ambiance perfect for our family/extended family, great service. Each dish was amazing, and as a buffet, everybody (kids and grownups alike) was stuffed and satisfied.

The quality of the food for the Thanksgiving buffet was poor. At $87 per adult, I expected something better than what I could get for one quarter the price at Cracker Barrel. It was mostly luke warm and dry. The turkey breast was not a real turkey breast - just reconstituted white meat. The spoon bread course showed up late (but it was excellent). The service was lackluster and slow. Overall unimpressive and not in keeping with the reputation of the Boone Tavern Restaurant.

Food was cold. Never got the spoon bread. Was here last year and it was 100% better. Was told that there was new chef this year. Food was the worst we have had. We may cancel our Christmas eve reservations. Chocolate cake was frozen? Could not eat it. Entire dinner barely edible. Not worth $170 (not including tip) for 2 people. Seemed very understaffed. We have been here 4 times in the last year. Something has definitely changed.

Our server was delightful and attentive, but the Thanksgiving buffet food was cold. The desserts were yummy though. Given the price of the buffet ($87 per person), the food should have been warm.

Boone Tavern is always a lovely and beautiful experience. Our hostesses and servers were knowledgeable, friendly and polite. We enjoyed the traditional "chicken flakes" and the Cajun chicken which were both absolutely delicious. We appreciate everything that Berea College and Boone Tavern does for their students!
