BRINE, known for fresh oysters, crudo, and prime cut chops, is Caswell Restaurant Group’s second foray into the eclectic and innately New England dining scene of Newburyport, MA. Proprietor Nancy Batista-Caswell’s appreciation of the local harvest and her affinity for European classics results in a restaurant devoted to flavorful seafood—ceviche, crudo, sashimi, and beyond—and butcher chops, with a healthy dose of Spanish and Italian influences throughout the menu. The main attractions at BRINE are backed up by soups, salads, Po-Boys, and “off the page” daily specials to provide plenty of variety.

This neighborhood hangout welcomes all and leaves pretension at the door. The low-key design and elevated standards of service allow the food to speak for itself, and Manager Gissele Tache and her staff are always on hand to recommend an adventurous catch, a fine bottle of wine, or a sweet after-dinner treat.

Always a treat dining at Brine. They have the best raw oysters and on Thursday’s it’s $1 oysters!! Yum! On their winter menu they have build your own Ramen bowl which was delicious and so filling ( I even have some for lunch tomorrow!). They also have a delicious nonalcoholic sparkling wine for Dry January….please keep on the menu going forward.

Most enjoyable! Three really good mains, mussels, ramen and burger. The burger was mine and it was delicious. As good a burger as I have had. The chefs menu recommendations were on point. My daughter loved her ramen dish as did my wife her mussels. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. Game was on, beer was good, overall great experience.

Three couples went to catch-up after a number of years. Our waitress was excellent and very attentive and helpful. Unfortunately the food was a bit hit and miss. I had the spare ribs which had foie gras in it and it was delicious, one of the best things I have tasted in along time. Unfortunately I also had the hamachi crudo which was very bland with no real flavor except except a slight off taste that was worrying. Others in our party also had some dishes which they really liked the burger e.g but others they did not care for, the tagliatelle.

Quite a long time to identify “where we to go” and reservation was made days ago. Seated at the bar finally; bartender was excellent. It was not clear when made the reservation, we could ONLY have the fixed menu…VERY expensive and a couple selections had extra charges over the $95; NO bread with or before meal. Food was very good but the confusing start and “no choices” gave the evening a disappointing flavor.

A meticulously crafted NYE menu with perfectly paired wine accompanying each course! We loved it as we always do at Brine! Additionally, the warm, friendly and knowledgeable service can’t be topped! Can’t wait to go again!
