Very good place to eat. We usually eat there once a year. Service was very good. Food was very good and hot out of the kitchen.

The blandest food this side of Hell’s Kitchen. No taste.

We visited on a Saturday evening with 5:30 reservations. We were promptly seated at an upstairs table. It took several minutes (10-15) before our waitress visited our table. She was doing a great job - I think she had too many tables and was struggling to keep up. Drinks and apps were brought up pretty quickly but then it was at least a 45 minute wait before our meals were served. My daughter’s steak was under seasoned and very fatty and we had to ask for a steak knife since they didn’t bring one ahead of time or with the steak. My risotto with scallops was very good!! I don’t understand charging $4 for a serving of bread and butter for the table. Seems excessive. Overall, we would not feel the need to go back.

This charming, cozy restaurant is a perennial favorite of ours. The food is consistently good with French favorites you can't find anywhere else in the area, such as bone marrow, escargot, and crepes. I am particularly fond of the trout almondine, and even though roast chicken sounds boring, it certainly is not. We appreciate that we never feel rushed. This is not a place that is counting the minutes until they can flip the table and doesn't look askance at customers who want to savor their cocktails before ordering appetizers.

We have adopted Cafe Normandie as our favorite local restaurant. Our most recent visit was Sunday evening in the holiday period between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was crowded with happy diners. As my apetite is modest, and their portions usually are generous, I had as a starter their crab on a portabelle mushroom (excellent), and for my main, another starter, my favorite, escargots (12!) and a side of asperagus. Those, with drinks and a sambuca following were perfect. My spouse followed the same plan but with different choices. We happened to strike up a conversation with a couple from North Carolina, from whom I had overheard a comment that being in Annapolis for only one day, they chose Cafe Normandie, as they were familiar with the Annapolis restaurant scene rom previous visits. Jean-Louie -- owner and chef -- came out to greet us, as he often does.

This was a very pleasant and unhurried dining experience composed of well prepared food presented by a warm, engaging and skilled team of hosts. The added bonus was the Wednesday special featuring all still wines on the wine list for 1/2 price. We’ve dined here many times before and had always found it calm and inviting of conversation, however this time, perhaps due to the holiday season, there were several large parties, one of which grew to be quite loud, and inhibiting conversation, hence the slight ding on ambience.
