Bringing 1940s Paris to modern-day Edinburgh, Café St Honoré restaurant is a charming bistro serving up traditional French cuisine (with a few Scottish favourites thrown in) to a loyal clientele. Tucked away on a picturesque cobbled lane in the New Town, the cosy dining room at Café St Honore, with mirrored walls and black-and-white tiled floors, provides an atmospheric retreat. The team here are passionate about local, organic produce, so the menu changes daily. There are prix fixe menus on offer at lunch and dinner if you’re after a bargain, or just need an excuse to indulge in dessert. In the evening, a seasonal menu du jour is available alongside the full a la carte, which features dishes like roast pheasant with red cabbage and pancetta; Our warming Cafe St Honore Cassoulet; and vanilla crème brûlée.     We are offering a set 5-course tasting menu on the evening of Sunday 31st December. This menu is priced at £97-50 per head and as with all of our reservations, we are more than happy to cater for dietary requirements provided we are given plenty of advanced warning. We are taking reservations between 6pm-8pm and asking guests to vacate the restaurant by 11pm. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you and please do not hesitate to contact us with any further queries. All reservation are to be made with the restaurant by phone.

          Pre booked and checked into restaurant however after being seated and ordering water, we were left for 30 minutes until finally a waitress came to table and said they forgot we were there!! Service was not in keeping with restaurant quality and expect better. Food however was usual very high standards although asparagus starter was particularly over priced and was same as more expensive dishes and worked out at £4 per spear!!

          Very good food, excellent staff, portions were reasonable but food was slightly expensive. The menu was a little restrictive and when I asked for a substitute in the meal I chose, as I did not like one of the vegetables, only one option was offered. This led to me changing my selection, which was disappointing. A very good selection of wine. Ambience was very nice. I would visit again but would wait until the menu was more suited to me.

          This French Café in Edinburgh is a delight. The meals are well prepared and sourced locally. The coq au vin with white wine was outstanding. The servers are attentive yet not intrusive. The decor is right out of Paris.

          Especially notable the fish was extremely well cooked, tasty and at the correct temperature, so often goes badly wrong in restaurants. Other dishes also served hot and clearly homemade. A lovely atmosphere and a real pleasure not to have to shout over the noise. Pricey but worth it.
