Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Cascades at The Stanley Hotel offers a "great atmosphere" with "excellent food" and "fabulous service." While some dishes like the pork belly and wild game meatloaf receive high praise, there are inconsistencies in food quality. The "historic charm" and attentive staff are highlights, although prices can be steep.

I mentioned it was my birthday in my reservation. I just wish someone would have at least wished me a happy birthday. Especially because it was kind of a lonely dinner and it’s not something I wanted to say out loud but putting it in my reservation and having someone notice would have been nice

Me and my fiance recently went to the Stanley hotel for a tour (huge King fans). Beforehand we checked out the Cascades restaurant and were BLOWN away by how amazing it was. Easily the best food I have ever eaten in my entire life. Our waiter (whose name I don’t now recall but did have a Russian accent) gave me suggestions as to what to order and it turned out extremely well. Overall a perfect night for us, thanks so much!!!

We dressed up and dined at this classic restaurant during our stay at The Stanley Hotel, and it was excellent. The upscale menu is moderately priced with large portions and unique flavors. The Crabcake appetizer on special was all lump meat with no fillers and the whiskey barbecue pork chop was a treat. Beverage selection is vast, and the desserts are a must.

For years, I’ve been trying to eat at this restaurant and have the opportunity to eat there twice for lunch and supper. The prime rib/French dip sandwich was excellent and the evening Wagyu was also cooked to perfection, tender, and great. Highly recommend both meals to anyone Wanting to enjoy a great evening. Zach our waiter was very well informed of the menu and provided us with good guidance. To top it off the bread pudding was excellent as well. Look forward to coming back and having another opportunity to eat.

Driving 17 hours from Texas to the Stanley, I expected a culinary experience worthy of the journey. Instead, what awaited was a masterclass in disappointment, wrapped in the veneer of a historic destination. The food arrived with the enthusiasm of a Monday morning—cold, uninspired, and incomplete. Broccoli, which should have been a vibrant side, was served at a temperature best suited for leftovers, while half my order never made it to the table. After nearly two decades in the restaurant industry, I recognize the difference between a kitchen in the weeds and one simply lacking standards. Here, the latter prevailed. The manager’s attempts to fix things were earnest, but misguided—offering more food when the issue was quality, not quantity. If management wants to make a real impact, the solution starts with the chef, not the comped sides. Service was a study in missed opportunities. Plates trickled out with the urgency of a glacier, and communication was as scarce as hot food. For a place that trades on reputation, the execution was amateur at best. I didn’t traverse state lines for mediocrity, and certainly not for cold vegetables and partial orders. In sum: the Stanley delivers an experience that is both memorably bad and oddly professional in its shortcomings—a paradox only possible in the hospitality industry. If you’re seeking a lesson in how not to run a restaurant, look no further.

The service was great. The pork belly was really good and the French dip was pretty good…the Cesar salad was mediocre at best. It’s a place we would go to once, but we wouldn’t go back because the food wasn’t memorable.

Everything was great except for the actual food in the meal. Service was impeccable and the location was interesting. Drinks were top notch. The food just fell short for an over $100/person dinner. My wife returned her meal Medium was past well done, dry, and not seasoned at all. It was the first time she ever returned a meal and we were celebrating her 62nd birthday. I had the meatloaf and that was pretty good, but gristly. Mashed potatoes were good, and I enjoyed the well-prepared broccoli. The staff were great and we did the night tour of Stanley Hotel after dinner. The tour was good.

Cascades is a nice small dinning location adjacent the bar at the Stanley Hotel. The food was great but the prices were a little over the top for the experience.
