   What a wonderful experience I had here. It was smart to have an early reservation. We had it for ourselves for a while. The servers were very knowledgeable and friendly. The environment really made it warm and comfortable. It was inside a historical house so it just contributed to that feel. The server recommended fresh caught halibut which I ordered. Was very pleased with the presentation and flavor of the food. We will definitely be back. Thank you for such a welcoming first experience.

   Service was slow to start, then very thoughtful, but then would disappear for long periods then back again. The kitchen fortunately was fast and the food was very good (although bland beet salad). Good creme brulee.

   Our au graten potatoes were not cooked. The atmosphere had a customer yelling F-bombs with his drunk wife and the wait staff did not intervene to quiet the customer down. I felt sorry for the young couple next to them who had to endure such vile language. Used to be our favorite restaurant on the island but now not sure if we will return.

   Please read to the end. We had been to Chez Loma before and were quite disappointed the last time. At that time, my husband’s steak was thin, gristly and overcooked. We were prepared to not go again. The restaurant is walking distance from our home and that is important to us. So my husband convinced me to try it again. This time we were very happy. He ordered steak again and it was perfectly cooked, tender and delicious. We both ordered the french onion soup and that was fabulous. The broth was yummy and there was lots of cheese on top. I ordered roasted artichoke. It wasn’t prepared as I expected because I didn’t read the fine print. It was breaded and seemed to be fried. I would rate that 3 stars. The service is impeccable. One other thing. It’s a French restaurant, but they play Spanish music. Not a big deal, but it felt a little weird to me.

   We love this place! It is our go to date night spot. We set seats at the bar and stay there. Anthony is the best bartender in Coronado, hands down. He has awesome energy, and is a peerless mixologist! I have been going to Chez for 20 years and the quality and consistency for excellent food is also unmatched. A filet or a burger are my favorites, with lobster mac and cheese or Brussels Sprouts on the side. Rojillio is a masterful maître d'! Thank you all for making our home town a food destination just down the street.

    Each year on my birthday we travel from Arizona to Coronado Island to celebrate. One of our top spots is Chez Loma! We look forward to eating there all year long! We made reservations, like always, for a comfy booth. But were sadly disappointed when the hostess tried to seat us in a very crowded room, single small table, so close to the tables on either side that we could not have been comfortable …the only other choice was the bar. It was a very bitter disappointment ! We did not stay. It put a huge damper on my birthday!!!
