On the night we went (2/16), we were informed that their oven and deep fryer were broken. Prior to telling us this, the hostess offered another party free drinks or free dessert for the trouble. We were not given the same offer, unfortunately, so that is the reason for the less-than-5-star review. The food and ambiance were good all things considered and our server was kind. We’ll have to come back again to try out some of their other dishes that require an air fryer and/or oven.

I have been here maybe a half dozen times over my visits. Stopped by on 2/16. Ordered and received a bottle of a fine super Tuscan red (~$100) and began to peruse the menu. When the waiter came by I was told the squash flowers I requested we not available. Disappointing. Moments later he came by and said virtually the entire menu was unavailable due to a failure of the oven and fryer (both?). He offered no accommodation or explanation as to why i wasnt informed before the wine was uncorked, so I requested a chat with management. Young woman came by and expressed little remorse and offered no concession for the fact that neither the zucchini flowers, chicken, fish or meat etc were available. When i stated that had i known I would not have ordered the wine and would have gone elsewhere, the manager got irate and told me she wouldn't charge me for the wine and suggested i leave. I remained at the table for a bit to book an alternate venue and wait for its availability when a huge fellow (I assume restaurant family) rushed up irate, physically menaced me and told me to "get out". Unacceptable.

We were seated outdoors where the ambient sound level is very conducive to conversing with 4 people. Even on a chilly night the infrared heaters made it comfortable. The food and service were outstanding and worthy of a repeat.

Our experience started out okay when the hostess I talked to was trying to not be rude but was obviously annoyed when I accidentally confused another restaurant with having had chosen indoor seating for our reservation. She went on to say that they "haven't done that since November so obviously indoor seating wasn't chosen." However, she quickly looked inside and found a table and told us it would be about 5 minutes to seat us. This was nice and a plus that she was accommodating. During our wait for the table, they kept turning a lot of people away, signalling that they were busy. However, after being seated, the server took a very long time to get to us to the point that when he finally got to us, I went ahead and quickly ordered everything before he never came back. The food arrived after some time but one of our plates was lukewarm at best. It was my fiance's plate and the only reason I realized is because I took a bite of her food to try it. I had to flag down our server because this is expensive food and we weren't about to eat it basically cold. He returned back WITH THE SAME PLATE, NOT A NEW ONE that was extremely hot. I've never had the same dish returned to us at any other restaurant, ever. It's always remade. Not wanting to continue to be upset, I decided to just let it be. This was a very unpleasant experience overall for the first time visiting especially after spending a lot of money. Additionally, what's the point of even asking for the occasion we're reserving for if you're not even going to bring out a little cake or anything? Extremely disappointed, especially with how expensive it is and considering we had to pay for parking as well.

I’d heard great things about this place and always struggled to find a reservation on a weekend, so I figured it must be worth the hype. But boy was I disappointed! The ambiance was cute—being set in Little Italy with the tables outside along the sidewalk. But the food was subpar at best. I have a dairy intolerance, so I was super excited to try their vegan preparations. I ordered the caprese salad and was expecting some buffalo mozzarella alternative that was sure to be amazing. Instead, I received chopped tomatoes with dollops of a flavorless substance that looked like a mix between cottage cheese and hummus. For my entree, I ordered the vegan lasagna and it was basically a big cube of mush. The noodles were too soft, the cheese alternative inside was overpowering, and I couldn’t tell whether or not there were other veggies or meat alternatives in between the layers because, again, it was all mush. Our server—while she was helpful with getting the lasagna replaced with another dish when I told her I didn’t care for it—lacked any personality. When she first approached, there was no greeting or small talk… no, “How are you doing? Is this your first time dining with us? Are you celebrating anything special?” etc. And while there was a menu on the table listing a special cookbook collaboration the restaurant was doing, she didn’t make any mention of it. Even when I asked, “are there any specials?” hoping to hear her add a little detail and color to the special menu items, she simply replied, “no, just what’s on there.” My husband had non-vegan items from the regular menu: meatball appetizer (which had a strange aftertaste) and some spaghetti in white sauce (which he said lacked flavor). Needless to say, the experience left much to be desired and I don’t think we’ll be returning. We love the vibe of Little Italy, but we’ll stick to our tried and true favorites.
