The ambiance of the Penthouse was a wonderful throwback to elegant quietness. The student waitstaff could not be more enthusiastic and willing to cater to our every need. The French cuisine was beautifully prepared. My wife enjoyed the charcuterie. My salmon Rillette was beautifully presented (if, a little tasteless. My only minor complaint). Wife had the Coq au Vin. It was excellent. I had the poached fish. The Beurre Blanc was sublime! Despite our concern that we didn't have enough room for dessert, my wife wasted no time gobbling up her Creme Brulee and I wasted no time digging into my pumpkin cheesecake. A wonderful experience that we will do again.

Food was exceptionally good. Our server was pretty "green behind the ears" but we understood this was a training period for our server.

I've been to Courses numerous times so I know what to expect from a teaching facility. My complaint is with the supervisor. We had an untrained server who looked helpless and was openly reprimanded at our table by the supervisor. It was one hour before we got our glasses of wine, another half hour before we placed our food order, another half hour before our entree arrived. We arrived at 6 pm and left shortly after 8:30 pm. Again, I understand on the job training, but our poor server seemed to get no help.

As a teaching facility, overall the experience was good, however the dining experience declined with an unreasonable lengthy delay between the appetizer and entree. The French cuisine was very good, however it would be helpful if the staff was familiar with the menu choices for the day or offer suggestions. The staff was attentive.

The meal was delicious. Service was good. First day working with real customers for most of the staff. Some kinks to work out. We will definitely be back.

Courses is a restaurant that is part of Ivy Tech Community College's Culinary School and Hospitality Program. Students work with their instructors to develop menus, work in the kitchen, and staff the dining room services. We have enjoyed lunches and dinners there regularly and have never been disappointed. The food is always excellent. The staff has always been enjoyable -- it is always fun to speak with the students to hear about their career aspirations. You need reservations to dine. Courses is a great experience!
