Best American Restaurants in Slidell

Went for their New Year's Day brunch buffet. Everything we tried was very good. Sweet and savory - bread pudding, creme brulee french toast, ham-n-cheese eggs, bacon, shrimp pasta, corned beef & cabbage, shrimp & grits, prime rib, smoked pork loin, country style ribs, boiled shrimp, salad items, desserts, waffles and much more...$45 per person plus 18% gratuity at all tables. A glass of champagne or mimosa was included. Water glasses were kept full by our friendly and attentive server. Also given free small beignets to take home. It may be a little pricey for some budgets, but I highly recommend Palmetto's! Go hungry and you'll still struggle to taste all their tasty offerings. We sat where a Jazz musician played "outside" and it was very comfortable with the beauty of the bayou outside. A+ experience overall.

Tragic start to NYD considering the Bourbon St attack. Brennan’s opened late, we called to confirm our reservation too. Cindy & Sheldon were great. We went w/ Sheldon’s recommendations - Eggs Carpaccio (our fav), Oysters, Eggs St. Charles + Owen’s Scotch Egg. Definitely, we did the Banana Foster. The Musicians were a great addition. We had a better experience here vs Mr. B’s Bistro last night.

As always Antoine's was excellent. Antoine's is the #1 fine dining experience available anywhere in New Orleans, and it has never disappointed. My wife and I have been coming here for 27 years and have enjoyed each visit. The staff was professional, courteous, and easy to summon if we had a request for something. They have a pride in their establishment that comes across in their dealings with customers. Very few restaurants, even in New Orleans, can say that any longer. Russell and Roland were both consummate professionals and took exceptionally good care of us. And it was great to see Charles Carter again. Charles waited on us on our first visit 27 years ago and many times since, and has always made sure we're taken care of. The Reveillon menu dishes were prepared perfectly and were delicious as always. I was pleasantly surprised to see a NY Strip as a choice for the main course and both my wife and I received our steaks cooked perfectly. We even had a special request for dessert and it was handled with no problems. If you're coming to New Orleans, Antoine's is a must. How many restaurants can say they have been in business with the same family since 1840? I hope to still be around to enjoy a visit in their 200th anniversary year in 2040.

Loved getting Gator Bites and crab cakes!! Came really fast so I can get back on road!!
