The key to Indie Cafe’s success is simple cuisine, elegantly prepared. Chef Iggy Waranon's dishes feature a dynamic combination of savory Thai and simple Japanese cuisine, with an emphasis on the original flavor of the fresh ingredients. Fresh and seasonal fish is often touched by cilantro-infused oils, miso dressing, and Asian citrus for pop and personality. Indie Cafe's fun, casual, and modern Asian interior also lends itself to a comfortable and cozy night with friends. Before the rolls arrive, order up a Ginger or Lychee Martini to whet the appetite. Although it's most famous for its electrifying use of chilies and lip-tingling ChengDu peppercorns, the heart of the local cooking style lies in the artful mixing of flavors.Chengdu cooks excel at combining hot, numbing, sweet, sour, savory, and nutty seasonings to create an astonishing variety of flavors.Locals like to say, "each dish has its own style; a hundred dishes have a hundred different flavors." “un-Americanized, small-place street food originated from Szechuan China, awarded as "best heritage restaurant" by Jean Bancheet”Our Story Begins in Chengdu "Nearly everything at Da Mao Jia is designed to set your tongue alight with chile heat. That shouldn't come as much of a surprise since the new Bridgeport restaurant specializes in street food from Chengdu, the capital of the Sichuan province of China and home to one of the most ferociously spicy cuisines on the planet." - Nick Kindelsperger, Chicago Tribune

The food was very good. I am Cambodian myself and I loved how the chef used the flavors authentic to Cambodia and put her own twist on it — like the bone marrow plate. We did the “A Tasting Journey Through Siem Reap” with 5 courses and not 1 was disappointing. Well worth the $95 per person price tag! I would come again and I would definitely recommend this place to others!

Our night was so enjoyable, and it started with our server. He was personable, helpful and good humored. The cocktails are creative, I had the Japantown and loved it. Very original, very refreshing. We shared the garlic fried rice, brussels sprouts, fire chicken and steak kalbi. Every bit of it was delicious. Truly, could not have been happier with the experience.
