Established in 2003, we started as a small cafe and bar with great coffee, snacks, and pizzas. People loved spending time in the café enjoying our frappes or conversing with our friendly staff, so we decided an expansion was in order. In 2006 the first expansion began until our current completed renovation in 2019. We're still serving great coffee, cocktails, and pizza, and have our selection of fresh dishes to choose from that is currently in the works of expanding when our kitchen's renovation reaches its final completion. So come on by, stay awhile, and enjoy all of the beautiful things this Astoria gem has to offer. We are proud to have been offering Avenue Cafe as your home away from home and hope to continue to serve you for more decades to come.

Here, on the Lower East Side, Trapizzino moves with the rhythms of the day - an espresso alongside warm bomboloni, a midday trapizzini enjoyed al fresco, refreshing spritz with shared vegetable small plates, or a larger feast with friends. FOR ALL THINGS GOOD IS A NEIGHBORHOOD CAFE AND BOUTIQUE MOLINO*. THIS PROJECT IS THE RESULT OF YEARS OF INTEREST IN MEXICAN CUISINE, CULTURE AND ULTIMATELY CORN. IT STARTED WITH THE SIMPLE DESIRE TO FIND A GOOD, FRESH TORTILLA HERE IN NYC. IN THE TIME WE HAVE SPENT TRAVELING BETWEEN NYC AND MEXICO WE HAVE SEEN MANY STARK DIFFERENCES BETWEEN NY MEXICAN FOOD AND MEXICAN FOOD FROM MEXICO. THE DETAIL THAT ALWAYS STOOD OUT THE MOST FOR US WAS THE TORTILLA. MOST OF THE TORTILLAS YOU CAN FIND HERE, BOTH IN RESTAURANTS AND GROCERY STORES, ARE MADE FROM CORN FLOUR. THIS IS A NOT TOO TASTY, NOR NUTRITIONS DERIVATIVE OF CORN MASA. THINK OF WONDERBREAD VS ANY LOAF OF BREAD YOU MIGHT FIND AT A BAKERY.

We sat in the outdoor garden space. Space heaters were on and they provided warm blankets so it wasn’t too cold even in the middle of January. Tea was delicious. Small sandwiches were very good and so were the scones and small desserts. Highly recommend for a girls day! The space was so cozy and cute too.

My daughter, her bff and I were in the city to see shows and enjoy the weekend in NYC from Orlando. We wanted a cute Sunday tea - BHL was perfect! We love that they contacted us the night before to ask our tea preferences-we had the Strawberry Almond, Matcha, and Pecan Praline. PP was our favorite and my daughter got some to take home to Chicago to share with her roomies. Our food was delicious and definitely filled us up for a day of back to back shows. We enjoyed all the tea sandwiches especially the cheddar cheese one-a favorite for all of us. The scones were so good - I think we finished the clotted cream and raspberry jam. The desserts were a hit as well - my daughter throughly enjoyed our strawberries as bff did not do chocolate and I do not do fruit. Our servers were perfect - not intrusive at all. At the same time they were so kind and helpful. Such a nice relaxing vibe. The room is so adorable. We loved the vintage feel-so kitchy. My daughter was so inspired by the chandelier above us, she plans to recreate it for her friend's birthday. This was so much fun and such a great way to start our day of Broadway shows. Such a fun tea experience!
