- SSharonLondon •2 reviews5.0Dined on Aug 3, 2023We were looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate a birthday and couldn’t have chosen better. Everything from the decor to the attentiveness of the staff was outstanding. I was dubious as the location is close to the train station but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Everything about this restaurant is high class. The food was amazing, the staff explained everything on the menu and the kitchen was open so you could see everything being freshly prepared. They even went out of their way to wish my friend a happy birthday and put a candle in her desert. I strongly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for something special whilst in Amsterdam. Prices were very reasonable too.More infoCarstens AmsterdamPrice: Expensive• Dutch• Nieuwmarkt•4.4

The food was amazing--particularly great for anyone who loves fish and vegetables (although it does a great job with meat as well). It is an all prix-fixe menu, as the chef prepares a new menu each day--not cheap, but you definitely get your money's worth in terms of creative, delicious food. The servers accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences (although they prefer to find out ahead of the visit). The restaurant's decor is simple--keeping the older building's lines and interior in mind; windows look out onto an amazing view of the docks and harbor of Amsterdam. A huge window in the entry of the restaurant gives an even better view. Diners often got up between courses to look out of the large window. The atmosphere is fun--young, lively European (including Dutch) foodies seem to prefer this place. All in all, this was a high point of our visit to Amsterdam.More infoBak RestaurantPrice: Very Expensive• Dutch• Westerpark•4.8
