Thomas Makris, from the Island of Skopelos, fell in love when he met Helen Babalos. They met at Orestes Greek restaurant in 1974, while on a Greek dancing tour of North America. Soon after their marriage, they had a vision to open a place like no other in Vancouver; a Greek restaurant where everyone is family; where everyone receives a consistent experience created by delicious homemade authentic food and impeccable service. Had a fantastic dining experience at Selene. Our server made great recommendations for both food and beverage and the overall experience was wonderful. Stand out dish for me was the mussels with green olive focaccia although we also had the octopus, lamb ribs and patatas; all of which were delicious. We capped off the night with the orange almond cake, which was incredibly tasty, with just the right amount of sweetness to it. Would definitely recommend this place and look forward to returning and trying more of the menu.

Exceptional food and wonderful choices of beverages. The staff was great with the kids and could recognize when to check in with parents about drink options. Our server was excellent at recognizing when we needed more time, when we needed help, and who to talk to in order to minimize disruptions or interruptions. The meats and seafood were prepared to perfect finishes. Portions suggested were reasonable and the overall bill was actually quite reasonable for a meal of this calibre.
