Best Italian Restaurants in Penns Grove

Server was hands down a 10/10. Unfortunately being so busy, it was to be understood given the date. Was hoping for slightly better preparation from management. However, this place is still phenomenal.

We booked Casa Nonna on a whim being that we are not from the area. It turned out to be a home run because everything was excellent. The ambiance somehow pulled off being elegant and hip at the same time. The music was hip and turned to a comfortable loudness. The server was excellent! He was formal yet very personable. The food was amazing. The Italian salad was fresh and crunchy with a very good dressing. The paperdelle was fresh as can be and the short rib delicious. My wife loved the clams and linguini dish. We may have been a little out of place with our young children but they didn’t make us feel that way and even customized the pizza to their liking. I ordered a truffle fig pizza ‘to go’ because i was so intrigued by how it sounded and looked ( i saw one coming out from the kitchen). It was amazing at 10:00 p.m. that night and for breakfast the next morning!!! I don’t know anybody that works at or owns this restaurant and i have nothing to gain from this review. We just thought it was a really great place. It was so good that i didn’t want to leave this review because i want it be all ours! Definitely going yo make Casa Nonna a frequent stop.

Lovely dining experience. We were seated promptly and served water immediately. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable, and her recommendation of the Pinot Grigio was spot-on (less sweet and more minerally than a typical PG). The complimentary bruschetta was tasty. My wife ordered the cioppino. The seafood was exquisitely prepared with a marinara that had a softness and butteriness to it. I enjoyed a cheese ravioli (all pasta made in house and it tasted like it) with sage and butter sauce. The coconut/pineapple sorbet was really delicious. The restaurant itself is not exactly cozy - it has an old-school openness, and a sort of cool modernity - but the food, and service, were excellent. Highly recommended.

My husband and I are Maryland “crab snobs”! DiPaolo’s is the only restaurant in NJ where we will eat the crab cakes — all crabmeat- amazing and delicious!! Can’t go wrong with their steaks either. Actually we have been eating there for years and every meal had been delicious. Shared a fabulous tomahawk steak with my grandson there during Thanksgiving weekend.
