Best Italian Restaurants in Sorrento Valley

We love Il Fornio at Del Mar Plaza and it has been our Christmas Eve tradition for over 25 years. We hope Il Fornio will always be at the plaza and our adult children plan to carry on this annual family favorite. We also enjoy Il Fornio throughout the year and have had many celebrations there❤️

Dined here on Christmas Eve. We were seated promptly and cheerfully by our lovely hostess whose name I, unfortunately, didn’t note. Our server, Marcie G., promptly arrived table side and was such a breath of fresh air - cheerful, knowledgeable, and friendly - making our experience most enjoyable. Food was excellent as well.

We had the salmon and cioppino entries, while our kids ordered marinara spaghetti with meatball and pasta Alfredo from kid’s menu. Also ordered a bruschetta side. The salmon and cioppino were great! Very pleased with food but even more with service. One of her kids has a peanut allergy and asked about p anutsbin the pasta when placing the order. We later ordered the bruschetta, butforgot to ask if it has any nuts however, we were very pleased that when the server brought the side, he mentioned that the bruschetta only had pine nuts and almonds or walnuts. we were going to ask when he brought the side, but he anticipated our question! High five to the server team!!

Holly (manager) always with a warm welcome. Our server Bill, as usual, extremely professional, attentive and excellent customer service. Thank you both for such a great evening. It is such a delight dining at Firenze. On this occasion we took our grandchildren (12 & 10 y/o); they made a comment to me when Bill left to put in our order, "he is such a nice person, and funny too." Bill is an asset for Firenze. We always ask for him when we dine there.

Great food. My favorite was the onion dip with the homemade potato chips. Great service too. We had a pleasant evening.
