Thomas Makris, from the Island of Skopelos, fell in love when he met Helen Babalos. They met at Orestes Greek restaurant in 1974, while on a Greek dancing tour of North America. They had a dream of combining the food of Greece with great service to add some Mediterranean style to the North Vancouver restaurant selection.
