Every neighborhood needs a Florio! Chill, sophisticated, and bustling. A warm and inviting restaurant with a grownup bar, window seats, and even a curtained private table of six. Martinis are skillfully made to order. Dry is dry and dirty is dirty. Food always delicious. It was our pandemic go-to and still we love it for dates and group dinners! A gem on Fillmore Street.

This was my first time going to John's Grill. The host was Jose and he was very patient with my party as my friend arrived late and it took a while to put our order in. I ordered the fried seafood combination and the quality of the seafood and the way it was fried was top notch as far as fried food goes because it was not greasy but light and crunchy. I also opted for fries with the seafood instead of vegetables at no extra charge and the fries were perfectly fried. We also ordered the escargot for my friend and she loved it. The creamed spinach was very good but the sauteed mushrooms could have used a little more garlic or butter or both. This was a great dining experience for me and I will be sure to try it again. For the quality of the food and service together and the prices with all the sides and wine and entrees we got I would say it was a good value.

Totally amazing!!! Only comment I would say is that being a later seating 9:30 they really pushed food on us before we were done with the previous course. Not in such a manner that truly interrupted the experiance but we struggled to keep up with the two bottles of very special wines be brought to pair with the courses. Food was perfect and the server was spectacular! I love the policy of whosever card is first is the one that is charged it really keeps the arguing to a minimum. Sat at the front door with party of six and I was worried but never did we feel a draft or to much traffic really magnificent. Not sure if they have dessert but we were never offered a menu for it or ask about it. We did get a bowl of ice cream for the birthday which was very generous. Can’t wait to come back soon to see how this institution continues to improve! Truly can’t imagine many ways they could!

I chose this restaurant for my husband’s birthday celebration due to a friends recommendation. From the moment we walked thru that giant golden brass door we were transported to a SUBLIME experience. I don’t even want to describe all the amazing things because the element of surprise is so important here - the service was exceptional, the food was SPECTACULAR - please try the oysters and the bone marrow!! OMG! And then the steaks but there are little surprises in the presentations and the “ tools” - you”ll see what I mean when you go- and please go here at least once in your lifetime! You will NEVER REGRET IT!!

The staff was wonderful, very welcoming and friendly. The food was as expected, terrific! I love the place. Wish I could afford to go there more often! And very Argentine of them, they welcome you to sit at your table leisurely. Nice all around. One thing I am VERY offended by is that after happily accepting the price of the restaurant, they attach a hefty 5% "SF Mandate" ($9.05) charge, just for the privilege of have a $206 dinner. This offends me. I should ONLY be charged for something I bought, not just because I was spending a lot of money there in the first place! I was tempted to take ten dollars of my 20% tip to put the cost back on the restaurant, but I decided not to.
