Best Steakhouses in Carnegie Hill

There maybe a new chef but the steak was ok this time but I only go to Mastro’s NYC as I tell the world how Mastro’s make only the best of the best but this time, I was a bit disappointed on my steak. Of all the yrs I’ve been going there, this was the only one I was not satisfied with but service is excellent!! And the warm butter cake was hard, I don’t know why it didn’t reach my standard this time. I will for sure come back. Maybe there were not enough butter on the steak that didn’t have that flavor or so, or new guys in the kitchen

Josh our server was great and made our Christmas dinner experience amazing. His recommendations for the meatball app and use the house bread for dipping was such a tasty way to go. He was able to switch some sauces and toppings around for my daughter to get the lemon butter sauce for her sea bass and she loved it. The rest of the family got steaks at his recommendation and they really melted in your mouth. It was our first time there but because of everyone’s professionalism we will be back!!!!

They were busy, I mean frenetically busy being one of the few places open for Christmas dinner in NYC. Understandably, we were seated at 7:00 for a 6:30 reservation for party of 6. Once seated, we were attended to promptly but never rushed. Waiter, Genci (?) was knowledgeable and guided us when we had questions. Both the rib eye and filet mignon were cooked to perfection. One of the best steaks we had especially for serving such a large crowd. Meal was truly memorable and nice finish to the day.

Arrived at Del Frisco Double Eagle at 4:50 for a 5:15 pm Christmas Day reservation. Checked in with hostess and let her know we were going to be a party of 5, not 6 as originally booked. "No problem, your table will be just a moment" At 5:15 I get a text that my table is ready. When I approach the hostess, she states "you booked Del Frisco Grille, not here" I questioned how she checked us in and let us stand around for 25 min. She stated, "oh well". When I inquire where Del Frisco Grille is I was told a couple of blocks away. I asked for address or directions but was told to "use my phone, it's not difficult." Fortunately, as we were walking to the Grille the hostess called to see if we were on the way. I explained what happened and she assured me that my table would be held while we bobbed and weaved through the crowds on the street. Once there it was a lovely evening. Food and service were great. Perhaps the hostesses at Double Eagle could try to be a little more patient, helpful and kinder like the girls over at The Grille.

We booked for Christmas day, visiting from Scotland. Our server was excellent. Attentive and food was delivered promptly but not too quickly. The venue is atmospheric if a little loud. Food was of high quality. All in all, a five star experience.
