Southern
Northeast Portland
About the restaurant
Walk-in's always welcome! Screen Door is a restaurant that presents itself as a love letter to the American South and the revival of regional cooking. Each day, the restaurant receives natural, local organic meats and produce from nearby vendors. The inclusion of regional Pacific Northwest ingredients into a menu of dishes developed in the south has created a unique flavor profile in Screen Door's menu. Many of Screen Doors dishes draw their inspiration from Louisiana and the Cajun cooking that's found there. These include our world-famous Fried Chicken, Lowcountry shrimp and grits, smoked andouille chicken gumbo and fried okra. Other items, like the house-smoked beef brisket and braised pork shoulder, come straight from the state of Texas. The rest of the South is well represented as well with a Carolina pulled pork sandwich, chicken and waffles, crispy fried oysters and a pimiento cheese & sausage biscuit sandwich with a fried egg and cheddar grits.

Cabezon simply never disappoints. The dining experience is so consistent. The staff are friendly, professional and provide great service. Everything that comes to the table is excellent, from the fresh bread to the entrees and the well balanced cocktails. The only suggestion I can think of is to perhaps add more variety to the menu, but I would hate to lose any of my favorite items so I hesitate to suggest it.

Fantastic service as usual. We have been here a few times and love the food and atmosphere. This time we hosted our company holiday party in the private dining room which provided privacy but we could still hear the live jazz music outside. I cannot express enough the great service we receive every time we go and how this place is like a hidden family owned gem. We will definitely return soon!

Good food and service -- but it was cold with a heat problem in the restaurant, which seemed to make service go really quickly.

Italian
Northeast Portland
About the restaurant
Since 2022, Tartuca has been a quintessential Pacific Northwest restaurant, contextualizing its hyper-local, farm-direct produce through an Italian lens on the active strip of Mississippi Avenue in North Portland. Inside Tartuca is a hip, bustling environment with an open kitchen, powered by a grooving soundtrack, house made pastas and focaccia, inventive composed dishes, and abundantly flowing wine from a tightly curated Italian list that exclusively features small, artisanal producers making wine naturally from organic and biodynamically farmed vineyards. For those seeking a quieter experience, Tartuca's best kept secret is a cozy back patio open all year round. We can't wait to serve you!

The food was top-notch, and the wait was quite reasonable. The focaccia was truly the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot of focaccia. I would return just for the focaccia. The waiter was great. Not a noise factory, nice ambience, nice staff. One thing: since they no longer serve pizza, they shouldn’t say on their window that they have pizza.
