   The Fat Canary never fails to provide a stupendous meal and outstanding service. It is our go to spot in Williamsburg for a special event. We were delighted to be able to enjoy a meal with our upcoming William and Mary graduate. Absolutely fantastic way to start the graduation weekend!

   Our only negative was when we arrived for our reservation 5 minutes early, the host acted as if we didn’t have one. He commented he guess he could seat us. There were quite a few empty tables. He acted as if he was doing us a favor. Are restaurants treating Open Table customers differently?

   We celebrated our 40th anniversary here The entire evening was wonderful The menu and food preparation and presentation all were excellent We were given a copy of the menu to celebrate our anniversary and many of the staff had signed it We had grouper and short ribs for entrees, fresh house made mozzarella and tomatoes for an appetizer, and a decadent chocolate dessert Wine selection was great. The service was prompt but not rushed and added to our celebration Thank you!

   Service was fantastic and food really wonderful. I am visiting from LA and would definitely say the food is on par with some of the best restaurants in any major city. The grouper special was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Chocolate and Madeline’s were also very decadent. I had made a note that we were celebrating my son’s year at W&M and they kindly provided us with a signed menu. Nice extra touch.

   I live in Richmond and come to the Fat Canary for significant events. It is my favorite restaurant to dine at. The food is delicious, the service excellent and the ambiance enjoyable.

   Thank you for a special dining experience for my 22-year-old son! He was so impressed by the menu with all the signatures. And the food was off the charts phenomenal. Four stars in our book!

   Arrived, seated and met by waiter with no delay. Excellent mozzarella and ham appetizer and halibut special was fantastic. Only problem was no room for desert.

   A bit noisy for our taste but we do have age-related hearing problems. The highlights: outstanding cuisine and excellent service. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The list of wines by the glass had some excellent options. In fact, some impressive options. I had fried oysters and scallops with risotto. My wife had fricassee of rabbit and duck breast. All four dishes were excellent. We would order them again. However, there are numerous other attractive things to try next time we are there. And we will be going back.

    Our first visit was very nice! Cost was more than expected. I guess that’s why I was a bit disappointed when my side (while playfully built into a tower) of steak fries seemed a let down for the price? The tenderloin was tender and the blue cheese butter that came with it was excellent! My wife’s Chicken was exceptional and I will have to try that next time! Wait staff was very patient and friendly!
