This high-energy bistro took over as Williamsburg's best restaurant as soon as it opened in 2003. The sophisticated but relaxed dining room has an open kitchen, which uses fresh, local ingredients for its creative American fare. Reservations for the dining room and the bar are recommended and may be made up to 2 months in advance. Open daily for dinner, a hostess is available during the day to take reservations by phone.

    The cuisine was wonderfully presented and full of flavor. My husband and I had the foie gras & oyster gumbo to start and the Halibut & scallops for an entree. I must say that we were both pleasantly pleased with each dish and enjoyed our dinner very much so. It was worth the 2 month reservation wait time.

    We celebrated our 40th anniversary by having our 1st dining experience at the Fat Canary. It won't be our last meal there! We loved it! The food was prepared beautifully and arrived hot and delicious. The wait staff was kind and attentive. Can't wait to come back and and we aren't going to wait 40 years this time!

    Excellent meal and cocktail! Probably one of the best Old Fashions I’ve ever had. I had the scallops which were mouth watering. My date had the salmon which was also tasty. Our waiter was so personable, warm, and attentive.
