This high-energy bistro took over as Williamsburg's best restaurant as soon as it opened in 2003. The sophisticated but relaxed dining room has an open kitchen, which uses fresh, local ingredients for its creative American fare. Reservations for the dining room and the bar are recommended and may be made up to 2 months in advance. Open daily for dinner, a hostess is available during the day to take reservations by phone.

    Whenever we are in Williamsburg, Fat Canary is a favorite. This meal was in celebration of our 55th Anniversary and was an elegant experience. Service was impeccable, our server Kevin was full of knowledge and a joy to us. As always the food was exquisite, creative and a culinary delight.

    Absolute wonderful experience. The rockfish on a bed of risotto, chili peppers and tomatoes was the best fish that I have ever eaten as it was perfect. Chardonnay by the glass complimented the fish very well and the ambiance and service were very nice. Great evening and I visit every year when I come home to Williamsburg — best restaurant in town and the versatile menu is always enlightening - delicious.

    As always, the Fat Canary has once again delighted us on my birthday! The food is amazing and the ambiance a perfect setting for a very special occasion. The oysters are to die for!!!!

    Food was amazing! Our server was very nice, knowledgable and took exceptional care of us (I can not recall her name🤦🏻‍♀️ This was our first time at Fat Canary and we definitely will be back. I had the Salmon, my husband had the Rockfish, our friends had the Hanger Steak and the Tenderloin. All dishes had rave reviews with not one complaint or room for improvement. We had attended the grand illumination prior to our dinner and this just topped the evening as the perfect Christmas season tradition for our friends and us. See you next year🎄

    Lovely experience once again! Keith, our waiter did a superb job, as always. The wild mushroom soup to die for—and main courses fabulous. It is a restaurant with a pleasant vibe, gentle pace and outstanding, creative premium food selections. Oh yeah, the carrot sorbet — unique and yummy. Kudos to the chef and cook staff! See you soon Kevin with yet another reservation.

    Wonderful little restaurant. Celebrate our wedding anniversary here ever year. Just keeps getting better. Great food. Nice wine list. Friendly and attentive staff.
