Best Casual Restaurants in Civic Center / Hayes Valley / Van Ness

If you've been to Burma Love or Burma Superstar, Teakwood delivers on amazing Burmese food. The coconut rice and curry dish make for a winning combination; and you can never go wrong ordering the tea leaf salad, samusas and garlic noodles. While we were disappointed with the spring roll as the rice paper was noticeably hard like cardboard, we were pleasantly surprised by how tasty the carmelized cabbage side dish turned out. Overall, the food, service and decor / ambiance make for a great dining experience.

Ken the sushi chef is amazing always lets us try something new at no charge. Brian our server is also fantastic. This place is great!

This was an absolutely stellar experience - the food, the service, the care, the presentations, the drinks - everything was spectacular and a beautiful end to our date.

So happy to see Chao Pesco back and lively - interesting appetizer and meal options are great for couples or friends dining options. Location is perfect for close performance dinner or after work gatherings. I like that the restaurant is able to accomodate 2 to many diners!
