The Reef, originally called Comptons, was built by the Usina family on a beautiful piece of oceanfront property, owned by the family for generations, located on tranquil North Beach, three miles north of the Usina Bridge. Comptons opened in 1989 and enjoyed great success for the next ten years. It closed in 1999 due to the ill health of Mr. Compton and hurricane damage. There are few remaining true Oceanfront restaurants in Northeast Florida, and of those, The Reef, commands the most spectacular views. Sit at any table inside and the view is dynamic to say the least, or enjoy the recently rebuilt and expanded deck where you not only look out at The Ocean, you listen to it too as the waves break and the birds cry.     We booked our reservation at Raintree for dinner to celebrate my daughter’s doctoral graduation. The experience was amazing and I would recommend Raintree to everyone visiting St.Augustine. Both the service and food were excellent! The atmosphere is so inviting and everyone working at the restaurant is so friendly and welcoming. I can’t wait for our next visit!

    We were fortunate to enjoy another celebration at Michael’s St. Augustine before they close on 12/31/24. Thank you for 5 great years of wedding and anniversary celebrations! We look forward to keeping our tradition alive at one of your other restaurants in 2025. If you haven’t experienced the great food, warm ambiance, and attentive service of Michael’s, do yourself a favor and book before they close!

    I honestly can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. From the parking lot tenant (Kenny) who made our first experience here incredible, to our waitress (Danica) who answered all of our questions, gave great suggestions and beyond sweet and attentive. The restaurant is gorgeous. The staff was 10/10. The food!! JUST WOW!! This will be a go to when family comes in town for sure!!!! Thank you so much for making our family dinner incredible!

    We walked a mile and half from hotel. The neighborhood deteriorated some and we thought “ oh no”. But don’t let thar deter you The food and presentation was spectacular! Wonerful. And my wife is gluten sensitive and over half the offerings were GF!!

    Enjoyed birthday dinner, starting with delicious Montenegro meatballs(great sauce) and tuna tartare(good balance). Perfect whiskey sours. We liked the duck pappardelle and pasta alla vodka as comfort food. Nice chocolate mouse cake for birthday, good crust. Good service from Ashley and beautiful Xmas decorations. Cute hats to take home, fun idea.
