Best Casual Restaurants in Lahaina

I recently dined at Son’z restaurant and while there were some enjoyable moments, there were also some areas that could be improved. When we ordered the red wine, it was served in a chilled glass, which was unexpected. Usually, red wine is served in a temperature controlled glass to enhance its flavor, so this presentation was a little disappointing. When we raised this issue with our server, he was initially a little frustrated. However, he later acknowledged our point and became more welcoming. During our meal, he made a point to check in on us, asking how the food was and if we needed anything else, which made us feel more valued as guests. Despite the initial hiccups, we still enjoyed our meal and the overall ambience. In the end, we decided to leave a tip of over 40% to show our appreciation, which made him very happy. It was a great way to end our dining experience. Overall, I appreciated the experience but hope they will consider tweaking their wine service in the future.

Monkeypod is definitely one of my most favorite restaurants on Maui. I go to both locations frequently, but Whalers Village is my favorite. The food is outstanding and the staff is amazing and the view is spectacular. I recommend this as a destination for all occasions.

Had the surf and turf. 7 oz filet was excellent with lobster ravioli. Would likely order just filet next time. The gratin potatoes were great also. Started with excellent crab cakes and the Caesar salad. The salad had great croutons but the dressing lacked flavor and could have used some lemon and anchovies. Sat outside which was a great vibe.

Food was good...not great. Lots of casual options. Good for kids. Good music.

Very family friendly. There’s a play area with foosball, a Pac-Man (and other selectable arcade games on the machine). Also a lounge area with comfy couches in front of a large tv for viewing football (NFL Game was on). Very reasonable prices with good portions. The french fries they provided were a mix of waffle, regular, curly, and seasoned fries. My 4 year old kept munching on mine. lol.
