Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent. The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

Restaurant Review: A Culinary Delight From the moment we walked in, this restaurant exceeded expectations with its impeccable service and warm atmosphere. The highlight of the evening was the perfectly cooked steak—expertly seared on the outside and tender on the inside, with every bite bursting with flavor. The true surprise, however, was the jalapeño corn brûlée. This creative twist on a classic dish was a perfect balance of sweetness and spice, with a delicate caramelized crust that added a satisfying texture. It was the kind of dish that you savor slowly, hoping it never ends. The thoughtful presentation and flawless execution of the meal made for an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you’re a steak lover or simply someone who appreciates innovative side dishes, this restaurant is a must-visit. I’ll certainly be returning!

Server was proactive, attentive without being overly so, and the view was very enjoyable. Got slightly loud when the doors to the exterior came down, but nothing unusual for a Saturday night. Busy without being too crowded. Staff was pleasant from start to finish.
