A rural public house serving local beers, Berkshire gin and ciders, as well as a great wine selection. Bar snacks and full meals available 7 days a week. Cooking over a central grill makes for great theatrical cooking from our open-plan kitchen, overseen by Head Chef Nick Galer. Whilst a subtle Basque feel will permeate throughout, its roots are firmly founded on those of a classic English pub – so while featuring top end Basque dishes fit for a destination dinner, it also offers simple pub snacks for a light lunch… while the food may be inspired by the Basque country, the ingredients are local… and while the wines may be sourced from Iberia, the beer is very much English.The crowning glory is the sensational open kitchen, with a huge, CHARCOAL FIRED parilla grill and a BRICK OVEN as its centrepiece and all in front of the guests – very visual and very theatrical.     Perfect destination - met friends for a Christmas get together. Started with a few drinks at the bar before seating at our table in the original pub area by a lovely open fire. Very congenial service. We weren't the easiest group to deal with but the person who took our order handled us with utter professionalism and good humour. It made for a memorable afternoon . We will be back. ps slow roast leg of lamb for two is sensational. A must for any meat eater.

    It was my first visit to the Green Oak we have wanted to go for a while and it did not disappoint. Such a lovely place we were greeted warmly and had a lovely table. The car park was busy it looked like there was a lot of people but inside it was spacious with plenty of room. The service was first class so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious beautifully cooked we had the fish and chips. It was my birthday and I was given complimentary sweet treat which was a lovely touch. I would highly recommend a visit and we will definitely return.

    We had a fantastic Sunday lunch recently at the Old Boot Inn with a group consisting of 4 adults and 4 children. The playground outside is a massive bonus point. Apart from a minor hiccup with 1 of the kids meals all of the rest was delicious. A lovely, cosy country pub.
