- CChristineVIPSan Francisco Bay Area •62 reviews4.0Dined 1 day agoWe loved the fun vibe and the beautiful view of the Bay Bridge, but we were a little disappointed in the food this time. The oysters were fabulous, but the squid appetizer that our Waiter recommended was only so so. It tasted too fishy/anchovy strong. My daughter ordered the miso cod, and although she liked it, she said it wasn’t what she expected (needed broth). I ordered the scallop appetizer which was good, but nothing special. My husband ordered the duck and he was happy with his selection. We’ve enjoyed some fabulous dinners at Waterbar, but we probably won’t be coming back anytime soon.More infoWaterbarPrice: Expensive• Seafood• Financial District / Embarcadero•4.6

It was absolutely perfect with a glass of Sancerre. Attentive easy-going wait staff. I will return just for that dish again. - MMimiSan Francisco Bay Area •9 reviews4.0Dined 4 days agoCozy cafe with friendly and attentive service. I can’t say I liked how the croque madame was served. It was a giant, wide slice of bread so the egg looked a bit sad and small on it. Not a lot of cheese on it and it had been placed under a broiler so the thin, top layer of cheese was browned taking all the warm, gooey cheesiness away making it dry. Give me stacked bread with cheese in the middle AND on top and let that egg dominate the top visually. My friend liked her quiche okay. The star was the boeuf bourguignon which was flavorful and delicious. Cocktails were tasty. Overall a positive experience and we’ll go back.More infoChouquet'sPrice: Moderate• French• Pacific Heights•4.8
- KKathrynVIPSan Francisco Bay Area •11 reviews4.0Dined 4 days agoThe food was delicious and eating outside across from Lake Merritt is a pleasure! The avocado toast (with a generous serving of green salad) was beautifully prepared, as was the pastrami benedict that my partner ate (unlike many we've had, it was not drowned in hollandaise sauce but simply topped with it). My only reservation was about the eggs on the avo toast. I asked the server to make sure the yolks were "not runny." She wrote down and repeated the instruction. But when they arrived, they were totally runny. She offered to get me a scrambled egg instead - which arrived perfectly prepared. But then I was charged for it. I think if the kitchen makes an error they need to make good on it, without additional charge. Other than that, it was a wonderful meal.More infoGrand Lake Kitchen - Lake MerrittPrice: Moderate• American• Oakland•4.7
