- JJulietBath/Somerset •1 review5.0Dined 1 day agoAfter an hour’s walk on a misty betwixmas morning, myself, husband and trusty black lab Jack, settled into a cosy corner of the bar for lunch (booked in advance given the time of year). Despite the ‘not wanting to eat for a month’ feeling post Christmas turkey, the walk and perusing the varied menu did the trick in building up our appetites! Having seen the list of desserts, we decided to skip the small plates despite how tempting they were. I had the lamb shank, washed down with a warming glass of Merlot. The lamb was everything you’d want from a perfectly cooked shank - meat melting off the bone, coupled with fluffy Parmesan and garlic mash, red cabbage and a delicious sauce. My husband chose the cheddar soufflé which was gooey perfection accompanied by potatoes and greens. The presentation of both dishes was excellent. For dessert, I went for the vanilla and maple cheesecake with salted caramel sauce whilst my husband had the sticky toffee pudding with a specially made for him sticky toffee sauce (the menu had a brandy sauce but my husband doesn’t consume any alcohol) and ice cream. This was also delicious. Again, both desserts were beautifully presented with redcurrant and blackberry garnishes. The staff were attentive to the perfect degree, the bar area was clean, tidy and nicely laid out. The complimentary still or sparkling water was a nice touch. Overall the meal and experience was 5 star. We will definitely be back, maybe even with the teenagers! Would thoroughly recommend!More infoThe Cross House InnPrice: Moderate• British• Bath•4.8
- PPhilipVIPSouth Wales •10 reviews5.0Dined 5 days agoI decided to visit Bills as a Xmas treat for myself and wasn’t disappointed. It was very busy and was expecting to wait for my meal but was surprised at how quickly my food came. I ordered the Boxing Day curry which I had a couple of weeks ago so I knew I was in for a great meal and it was. For afters I had the banoffee pudding which is always a favourite of mine. I’m not really a cocktail person but as it was Xmas I ordered a White Russian which I enjoyed enough to have 2. Service as always was excellent. A very enjoyable couple of hours.More infoBill's Restaurant & Bar - Cardiff BayPrice: Moderate• Contemporary British• Cardiff•4.2
- JJoyBath/Somerset •1 review5.0Dined 5 days agoIs a lovely Gastropub near The Royal Crescent. Staff are fruendly and professional. Been there several tikes when stsying in Bath. Good choice of food but as a non garlic llover, I should have avoided the mushroom rissoto. Their fush and chips and steak are excellent. Can be a little noisy at busy times as children and dogs there but has a happy atmosphere.More infoThe Marlborough TavernPrice: Expensive• Gastro Pub• Bath•4.5
