“In Syrian culture, we can’t make any journey without first planning the food. If you decide to go to the cinema, you plan what you’ll eat. If you plan to visit your mother, you know that you’re going to eat. There’s no going out without eating something.”-Imad AlarnabImad Alarnab was a successful restaurateur in Damascus with three restaurants, plus several juice bars and cafes. In the war, Imad's restaurants were destroyed and he was forced to flee the country in search of safety for his family. Making his way from Lebanon through Europe, Imad shared his skills cooking for other refugees, up to 400 at a time, and found even in the most challenging times, his passion for food and bringing people together to celebrate life was strong.

Independent and family-run, we opened Mele e Pere in the heart of Soho in February 2012. We are three brothers and a friend who set out on a journey to create a genuine neighbourhood Trattoria reminiscent of the fabulous family-run places of northern Italy, where we all grew up.You should feel just as comfortable popping in for a glass of home-made vermouth and some sharing plates at the bar as you should taking your time to work through the menu in the dining room.We cook our seasonal and daily-changing menu with British produce and exceptional Italian ingredients. All of our pasta, desserts and ice-creams are made in our kitchen fresh every day. We have London’s largest selection of Vermouths behind our bar and our exclusively Italian wine list has loads of options for you available by the glass and carafe.

The food and service were excellent. I had lamb cutlets with potato mouse, absolutely delicious . The lamb was cooked medium rare, so tender. My son had the ribeye and commented it was excellent, served with peppercorn sauce and big chunky chips. My wife had the mushroom risotto, also commenting on the quality. Service was excellent with attentive and polite staff, highly recommended.

From the moment you are greeted the team at Hawksmoor make you feel welcome. We were seated in a very comfortable booth and menus and ordered taken quickly with helpful advice on the size of cut to order as we wanted a large cut for the table of 4. I had a glass of the South African red but actually my second glass of the house red was even better. Dessert was great too. Highly recommend.
