Best Kid Friendly Restaurants in Capitol Hill

I am a student at Virginia Tech and haven't seen my parents in person for about four months. From the pictures, The Hamilton looked like the perfect place to treat them. During our 14-day trip to the U.S., Jaleo in Washington, DC, stood out as the best dining experience. The lively ambiance, excellent service, and exceptional food made it truly memorable. We started with the Jamón Ibérico, which was exquisite—rich, tender, and packed with flavor. The highlight was the Paella with chicken, which was expertly prepared and served tableside by the General Manager. This personal touch elevated the experience, showcasing the care and authenticity behind every dish. Jaleo perfectly balances traditional Spanish flavors with modern flair. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, making us feel welcome throughout the meal. If you're in Washington, DC, Jaleo is a must-visit. It was the culinary highlight of our trip, and we look forward to returning!

I’d suggest you make a reservation as it was a full house at 2pm on a Thursday. We were greeted promptly by our server and she checked on us regularly. The food came out timely and it was delicious. We each had alcoholic beverages, salads, an entree, cappuccinos and dessert. The bill was about $200 and I felt that was a fair price and worth it.

The City Tap House - Penn Quarter was PACKED so I'm glad we were able to get reservations. The food was excellent, but conversation at the dinner table was difficult because it was very noisy. We had a few issues with ordering via the QR code. When I ordered my food, the site returned an error. When I resubmitted my order, I had two orders. I was able to flag down someone who had to go to the kitchen to cancel my duplicate order. Then I had a third food order waiting to be submitted, so I had to flag someone down again to delete it from my order. The online system could use some improvements, but overall it was a good experience. The food and drinks came out quickly and I found I actually liked ordering and paying from my phone. The link to Apple Pay made it a SNAP! That being said, I received a phishing email overnight that my Apple Pay had been suspended. I deleted that, but it makes me wonder about the security of the online system.
