This truly is a fantastic restaurant which I've been going to for just short of 25 years. I had lunch yesterday, a set lunch menu is available weekdays, alongside the a la carte, and is great value if you choose to take the set lunch option. Will (Willis), the lovely guy who hosts, couldn't have been more helpful, allocated probably the best table in the house despite a little hiccup with the booking (I had a 1.30pm booking but was caught in traffic not to arrive until 1.50pm) I called Smiths, they noted I might be late, reassured me they would hold the table and advise my guest when she arrived. II then arrived at 1.50, the table was ready and waiting, the restaurant was packed, not a free table in the house (except mine) and then, whilst I didn't catch her name, our waitress was extremely friendly and the service received was impeccable. The food was superb, probably the best guernsey middle skate I've eaten in a long while, with the feta and pomegranate salad as a side (which is the best salad on the menu) and followed by Bakewell tart, a particular favourite of mine and one Smiths does extremely well. My meal also fell into the 2 course lunch menu so not only was the food fantastic but extremely reasonably priced too. If you haven't had the opportunity to visit Smiths, you're missing out!More infoSmiths Restaurant OngarPrice: Very Expensive• Seafood• Ongar•4.8

- BBrendaEssex •6 reviews4.0Dined on Jan 25, 2025Hi I had a good time and would of given 5 star but because we had been out on table by the stairs toilets etc I had people pushing my chair and bashing into me constantly I did ask to be moved but was told as you can see we are fully booked and no alternative seating available This did spoil our evening and to be totally honest we left earlier than anticipated and we would of preferred to of spent our money elsewhereMore infoFunky MonkPrice: Expensive• British• Epping•4.2
- RRehenaLondon •3 reviews5.0Dined on Nov 30, 2024Lovely venue, although in the middle of no where in my opinion. Service was good as we had early booking. Starters was delicious, the venison kebab, the quails egg I would have preferred it to be a bit runnier in the middle when you cut into it. The sauce was great and good amount just right for the amount. The mix grill was a disappointment due to the small portion size, there was not enough flavour to this dish. The prawn purée was nice, please serve in a flat plate as it will be easier to eat than the round bowl we had it served in. Ambience was nice. Mains were ok the meat dish was not spicy enough as per details on the menu, the dhansak was lovely, the peshwari naan was yummy. The duck dish would be better to be cooked to one’s tastebud, I would have preferred this a little less cooked. Dessert- we didn’t enjoy in the way it was described on the menu, however the cake for the birthday was nice along with the other complimentary little pot we had. A lovely evening full of lovely foodMore infoTanishq Restaurant & BarPrice: Expensive• Indian• Ongar•4.9
