We’ve long loved Canary Wharf and it's rich history of the nearby Docklands and Billingsgate Market, yet Blacklock in a glass tower never quite fit. One look at an old disused warehouse nestled cosily in the corner of Canary Wharf underneath the train tracks of the North Dock and we knew we had found home. Hawksmoor Wood Wharf is housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion in a new riverside neighbourhood in Canary Wharf. Gently rising and falling with the tide, the main restaurant at dock-level is joined by a 120-seat waterside bar. Both include terraces with views across the water (squint your eyes and you might just see the ghosts of great ships laden with mighty lengths of timber that used to swing in and unload there). There's also a private dining room for up to 20 people named after the local legend Queenie Watts, a singer, songwriter, actor and self-confessed bawdy landlady (think Peggy Mitchell meets Joni Mitchell). After initially being told we had to be off our table within two hours, despite the fact that we were settling in for a long lunch, the maître d managed to move things around and we were able to retain our table, for a fantastic meal and a great afternoon. Many thanks.

We visited with our baby to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Our waiter went above and beyond to give us a memorable experience, and was incredibly accommodating to meet all of our needs. His knowledge of the menu, and recommendations were spot on. The food was delicious, service was impeccable, nothing was too much trouble. Service from entry to leaving was wonderful from every member of staff we encountered.

We enjoyed a delicious meal, and the staff were very friendly and offered great service. The cocktail we had was also very good. I’d highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely go back again when I’m in the area.
