The Winding Stair Bookshop & Café became a famous Dublin landmark in the 1970s and 1980s. Named after the Yeats poem and in honour of its winding staircase, it is overlooking the river Liffey, with an iconic view of the Ha'penny bridge. As a popular meeting place for writers, musicians and artists, it was a well known hub for debate and creativity with many poems written, novels penned and movies shot within its walls. Our experience was absolutely amazing. From the moment we walked in we were immediatley looked after. Our bags and coats were taken and the service was so friendly and efficient and were given excellent recommendations. The food was incredible and we couldn’t recommend Kicky’s enough!

The Christmas set menu was very abundant and very special. Cocktails were super tasty. One of our friends commented was “as long as my wife enjoyed everything and is happy, for me everything deserves a 5*”. Service was super fast and very correct, polite and respectful. Amazing experience. For sure we will come back. Special thank you to the girls and guys that served us today.

Fabulous place to eat. We were sat beside where they make the pasta. Such a cool experience getting to watch it being made fresh. The food itself was amazing. Each dish did not let me down. Our main was the venison ragu and it was so tender. Would highly recommend. Staff were fantastic. Explained everything perfectly, we’re kind and courteous.

The lunch menu was very limited. The only proper meals on offer were chicken burger or fish & chips. The rest of the menu was made up avo eggs, granola, soup, salad and sandwiches. A bit disappointing as this was a Christmas lunch meet. We had the fish & chips, the hake had a lovely light tempura batter which was delicious, chips were tasty but the tartar sauce was a bit light on the capers which made it creamy rather than tangy. It really needed a side as the portion was small. We had the sticky toffee pudding and cheese plate. Sticky toffee was a little dry but had good flavour but there was no toffee sauce!! Service was good
