In addition there is a chef’s special menu featuring local and seasonal food from all over NJ, PA, and NY please keep in mind this menu changes weekly. Chef DeSisto also has gluten free and vegan options for guests as well. Our outdoor patio is weather permitting, if we cannot accommodate outside due to weather we will move you inside depending on availability. Some must try’s are the giant meatball, house made pastas, steak au poivre or our delicious day boat scallops!! Scalini Fedeli was opened by chef-owner Michael Cetrulo in 1995 and very quickly became New Jersey's highest rated Italian restaurant. Rated excellent by the New York Times in 1996 and New Jersey's favorite restaurant in Zagat's Survey in 2001 and New Jersey Monthly's best Italian and top 25 overall in 2007. Highlights from the menu include soft egg yolk raviolo with black truffle butter, pignoli crusted salmon with artichoke and mint agnolotti in a light tomato and basil broth and braised short ribs of beef with a cherry pepper and port glaze. Set in an historic building built in 1740, the atmosphere is slightly formal with Tuscan style vaulted ceilings finished with Venetian plaster. Tapestry and antique mirrors adorn the walls.

    The food was excellent, just 2 minor things: 1-they don't serve alcohol here. I have since learned this has something to do with Montclair in general, though this restaurant does allow you to bring your own wine. I don't hold it against them, they have no control over it and now i know for next time. 2-They had a modified menu for Valentines weekend, so the regular menu wasn't available. Not the end of the world at all, and we got our food EXTREMELY quickly (and it was delicious), just another thing i wish i had known ahead of time.

    The service was absolutely perfect. We were given enough time to have our wine and look at the menu and discuss our options. The timing of the appetizer to the main to the dessert was seamless. We really enjoy not having to feel rushed through our meals and actually have a moment to enjoy every bit of our mezze options before the entree. 10/10 will be back and recommending to others!

    We went for an early dinner 4pm reservation on Valentines Day. My wife and I had the Spellbinder drink, the hibiscus was aromatic and it was one of the best and strongest margarita I’ve had in a while. We also tried their Colossal Crab Cocktail from the raw bar. Then we had the Collosal Crab Cake from the starters. And for the main course we had the Lobster Spaghetti (a whole Maine lobster) and the Scallops. The experience was lovely and the food was delicious! I can’t wait to come back and try other dishes.

    My cocktail was $18 but very delicious! We did the Lunch pre-fix menu, which was totally worth it! The appetizers were AMAZING!!! The food portions were great, we needed to take our lunch and dessert home. My chicken was a little on the drier side, but the flavor was on point! Would definitely go back and recommend this place to my friends! They are starting brunch service on February 22nd. Our waiter was attentive, but a soft talker.

    I love this restaurant. Just had another wonderful meal here. Very reasonable prices for high quality delicious food—every time. I’ve never had a bad meal here. The scallops I had last night were the best I’ve ever eaten. Service and meal presentation are spot on. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to this fav restaurant.
