- AAdrienneSydney •1 review5.0Dined 6 days agoA wonderful experience! The restaurant was charming and cosy with extra pillows to guarantee your comfort. The food (all of the food! We are a party of 8 and we tried almost everything) was delicious, flavourful without too much spice. The portions were generous, both entrees as well as mains. The food menu is small but carefully constructed to allow something for everyone. Definitely order the pineapple side dish! It's not everyday that you get to enjoy a ritualistic carving of fruit at your table ;D The drinks menu is extensive, colourful, and fascinating. As are the drinks. However the best part of our dining experience was the staff. Warm and welcoming right from the start. They took exquisite care of our every need. They delivered on every request with a smile. Nothing was too much for them. Thank you Cartel for a lovely day and we hope to see you again soon.More infoCartelPrice: Moderate• South American• Chippendale•4.6
- PPeterSydney •1 review4.0Dined 7 days agoGreat and very helpful staff, they sadly had to sit us on the bar, but it wasn't so bad. The drinks are heavily over priced and I would just recommend to not bother, go somewhere else for drinks in the area there are better places much cheaper to get a good cocktail. The Orange chicken was by far the best dish, which is a shame for a Bao Bun place when you think about it. The Bao Buns were ok...not great, like Ipuddo makes better ones if you really want to try some. The chicken was dry, the meat was stringy, the pork belly one i didn't even bother eating because it looked bland, and there was no real crackling on it. In the end I recommend you get their burgers and the Orange Chicken as they're far more enjoyable than the buns. Shame really. TL;DR - Drinks cost too much (common problem, not exclusive to this place) - Staff are amazing - The buns are average - Everything else on the menu is better than the buns (the irony) - Ambience is really nice too!More infoBelly BaoPrice: Moderate• Asian• Newtown•4.5
- GGrahamSydney •2 reviews5.0Dined on Nov 10, 2024Booked as we go there sometimes cause it’s close to events. Surprised to find an all you can eat deal on wings and beer deals. Made for a cheaper meal and got to try other flavours we hadn’t. Great meal very happyMore infoWingboy NewtownPrice: Moderate• American• Newtown•4.6
- OTOpenTable DinerLondon •4 reviews5.0Dined on Nov 7, 2024We experienced the Chef’s menu paired with an all evening happy hour. Every bite of food we had was delicious and the braised lamb was one of the best I’ve ever had, falling apart at the bone. Even though the dishes are served “to share”, the portions were surprisingly big and incredibly filling. Service was outstanding the whole evening. What a wonderful little gem of a place, I look forward to returning soon!More infoThe Barrel Room by AkashaPrice: Expensive• Modern Australian• Leichhardt•4.7
