Best Date Night Restaurants in Machesney Park

We celebrated my wife’s birthday with a 3 other couples and had an amazing experience. From the start to finish everything was absolutely perfect! Special thanks to the owners and staff for taking such great care of us! They really went above and beyond! I can’t recommend this place enough, we are already planning our next visit.

Atmosphere of Lakelawn Resort is amazing, but the food was subpar. High price for very small amount of food. $34 for a small piece of salmon with 8 small spinach leaves around it with some pecans. I was still hungry and ordered a side of fries. This is my 3rd time trying this restaurant since it became 1878 and have been disappointed for my last time. Needs a better chef & better menu options.

Good food and great service. Kaycee was our server and was awesome! Also did a wine tasting. Beverly was our wine attendant and was great. She was attentive and social. Also guided us through the various wines.

You never get a bad meal here. The food is amazing. However some things have slipped over the past few years. The host, Hunter,didn't seem to have a clue. He made us wait 20 min. while he seated others who came in after us even though the restaurant was only 15% full, luckily another host came along and seated us. That made for a bad start. The waitress was excellent but the young man who removed plates and filled water glasses kept reaching across us instead of moving to the side of the table. The soda and iced tea was so watered down that it might as well have been water. The steak and salmon were excellent. Cooked perfectly. The potato both mashed and scalloped were tasty and the brownie ice cream sundae was incredible. Our waitress, Allie(sp) was on top of everything. So, no longer a 5 star but still good.
