Set in Kansas City’s historic City Market, Brown and Loe Restaurant’s inviting atmosphere is a blend of “big city” bistro with the welcoming casual flavor of a neighborhood favorite. Housed in a former Merchant’s Bank constructed in 1920, the restaurant honors the architectural details of the two-story building which features a façade of plate glass and verde marble floors and walls. In the 1940’s, Brown and Loe was originally a produce broker with offices on the second floor of the Merchant’s Bank building. The new Brown and Loe Restaurant celebrates the techniques of curing, pickling and smoking meats, beautifully interpreted into marvelous American comfort cuisine.     Lidia’s KC consistently offers up great food paired with exceptional service every time we visit. Everything we ordered was expertly prepared and served promptly. There are menu items from the past that we would love to see again. We really liked the cookie plate option as one of the desserts. We also miss the soup option as an alternative to the salad course. The soups changed daily and were always a favorite. We would even order soup to go.

    Fantastic experience!! Due to a change of plans, we arrived about an hour early for our reservation on Christmas Eve and they were kind enough to accommodate us right away. I also want to mention that we originally booked a standard table but the high top was even better for the views and ambiance. We sat right in front of the most beautiful mahogany bar and got to watch the bartenders climb up and down the super high ladder. The food was all exceptional but the baked pimento cheese tray was to die for. The fresh baked sourdough bread was also phenomenal. We had mostly seafood and everything was delicious.

    Fabulous experience! Gorgeous this time of year!. Server went out of her way to accommodate. Food was excellent. Valet service was great. Only complaint is that they are limiting their menu on the weekends because it gets so busy when people are in town for the games, so they didn’t have some of my favorites available.
