Located just beyond the West Loop’s famed “restaurant row,” El Che Steakhouse & Bar is Chicago's go-to destination for steak, seafood, and live-fire cooking. The restaurant is modeled after Executive Chef/Partner John Manion’s fascination with Argentinean asados: traditional backyard barbecues surrounding the flame. A 12-foot custom-built grill serves as the centerpiece for this downtown asado which embraces South American-tinged meats, seasonal vegetables, fresh seafood, and of course, steak. The hearth also serves as the heart of the restaurant’s experiences such as dining at the Hearth Table. Join us for happy hour at our cocktail bar, featuring signature cocktails and fiery bar bites or indulge in a glass of wine from the country’s only South American wine list. No matter what you choose, El Che brings the heat seven nights a week. For large groups, private events, birthdays, or celebrations, email us info@elchechicago.com.

Walnut Room Holiday Brunch was fantastic. Of course the Christmas decorations are amazing. Service was very good. The wait staff professional and accommodating. The brunch lines were not long and food fresh. They served the typical breakfast foods with pastries and fresh fruit. All very good. There were complimentary photos with option to purchase others. I have to say photographer Ronit Bezalel did an amazing job capturing my husband and me. I expected the traditional stand in front of the tree type photo, but Ronit was much more creative. Don’t pass this up if offered. A great holiday breakfast. Cheers!

The service and atmosphere were both wonderful! The food overall was very good. The sweet potato bisque soup was delicious…the garnish was a little off though - not sure what it was. There was also a spice I could not identify in the otherwise beautifully dressed house salad that was unpleasant enough I didn’t eat it —fine to add unique tastes to other dishes, but not something I’d expect in a basic house salad. I’d ordered the hamburger the last few times I’ve eaten there — always a winner! My friend took my advice and agreed! Glad I ventured out to try the Cuban sandwich - a new favorite. Last but not least the beignets were amazing! Always a great experience at the Gage!

Had a great experience backed by solid service (a server we had before, I believe her name was Visjna? She was fantastic) and hospitable management team who went out of their way to customized a menu header for my guests birthday. Consistent dishes as always. The special however (short rib mushroom sugo) I would recommend adding more salt. Being a fat-rich dish, the meat and sauce screamed for salt. The only callout I would point to is the underhanded 3.5% service charge on the check which instead of adding that towards the end, the restaurant should really just work this into their menu pricing.
