Best Restaurants for Groups in La Jolla

Rarely do we find a restaurant we can say was perfection on every level. Marisi is just that place. We were greeted with warmth upon our arrival for our reservation and were seated immediately, despite a long line of walk-ins. Our table was set beautifully and our server(s) were professional and knowledgeable. From cocktails through dessert every dish exceeded our expectations. The cocktails were beautifully crafted, the dishes beyond delicious and the homemade pasta to die for! We had an opportunity to meet Assistant General Manager, Karley Maes, and thanked her for the training of staff and the noted attention to detail that was notable. Upon speaking with staff, everyone acknowledged admiration and respect for the organization. We also had a moment to chat with the bartender. He was proud of the set-up and proliferation of high-end brands that were even in the well. Can’t wait to return.

We were led to believe this was an upscale restaurant, country club casual. We expected this atmosphere. Next to us was a a husbands, donned in a baseball cap, his wife and two children. The children were loud, obnoxious, and continued with antics sprawling about there space. Other diners were shouting for attention at their tables, the noise level was over the top. I wanted to stand up but I’d have to scream, Quiet Down…. It was deafening, unbearable.

The best dining experience of our lives. My wife and I are quite the foodies. We were celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary and when booking the reservation I noted it. Upon arriving we were greeted with the wait staff wishing us a happy anniversary and having rose petals spread across our table. We started the evening with a half dozen or assorted oysters, BY FAR THE. BEST WE HAVE EVER EATEN. Literally melted in our mouths. Continued our evening with the crab cake which was also booming with flavor and extremely creamy. We both ordered the 10oz filet & 7oz lobster tail for our entrees. The filet was incredible and once again the lobster tail was BY FAR the best of our lives. Never had lobster just fall apart as soon as you bite into it. We shared the truffle Mac and cheese and wow, just incredible. We were given a small portion of their famous bananas foster and butter pecan ice cream on the house, once again the textures and flavors were just incredible. Finished our evening with a couple espresso martinis that were just right. Already planning our next visit and can’t thank Eddie V’s enough!

Our family of 5 were there for Christmas Eve dinner. We had reservations at 5:15 pm and were seated promptly. The service was very nice and took our drink orders and appetizer orders right away. We've been here many times before and had always enjoyed the ahi taco and calamari. This time I also had a Caesar salad which was good. The bar ran out of Bombay so could not have my usual Bombay tonic but substituted Tanqueray which was fine. The entrees included the Duke's fish, steamed fish and shrimp in the banana leaves, a filet medium rare and the seafood hot pot. And of course, you can't finish a meal without Hula pie. Our only wish for Christmas: have Prime Rib like they have at Duke's Huntington Beach. Otherwise, the experience was enjoyable and we shall be back.

I love the beautiful Christmas decorations La V has each year. The service was wonderful— real old-fashioned courtesy— and ambience was very nice, if a little noisy. Tablecloths would dampen the noise. My only issue is that La V has has the same lunch menu for ages. It’s time for a change.
