Contrary to popular belief, JJ's Restaurant is not named for popular owner Jimmy Frantzé. In 1985, Jimmy purchased JJ Malane's from his former business partner and the saloon's namesake. Malane's went away, but JJ's remained, and a West Plaza fine dining icon was born. Jimmy invested his enthusiasm and passion for exceptional contemporary American food, steaks and wine to build one of the finest restaurants in Kansas City just a block west of the Country Club Plaza. We enjoyed every bite of our dinner. There was four of us and we all got something different for the starter, main, and dessert. Maria was our waitress and was very good! Nice place to go with friends or as a couples night out.

We come here because they don’t cook in seed oil, and the food always tastes great. I had the meatloaf. It was a recommendation of the waiter and that was one on my list to get. It was the perfect portion for me (6’5, 200 lbs). Carrots, mushrooms and fingerling potatoes. Very good flavor. My wife had the Sustainable Salmon over rice pilaf. I had the rest of hers since she could not eat it all. She was very happy with the meal. A glass of a red blend from Italy capped it off for both of us. We will be back soon, thank you True Food!
