Best Restaurants for Quiet Conversation in Westwood

Chef/owner Nicola is one of the top Italian chefs in LA. He is at the center of Osteria Vera, in their open kitchen, preparing and overseeing the preparation of everything. His food is delicious. We had the Hamachi crudo, topped with lemon and shaved bottarga, the Lechuga salad, another pasta dish with spaghetti and more bottarga (our favorite) and the roast duck. I love duck and this was prepared perfectly; meaty and tender pieces with crisp skin. The service was excellent; friendly, attentive, well paced.

Service was on the slow side - excessive wait between appetizer and entrée - but otherwise a very nice experience.

The Rose has become one of our favorite places to go from the greeting, warm and inviting, (especially if you’re lucky to be greeted by Elliott), to the wait service that continues the positive attitude that makes you feel like family. The meal choices are so varied that all tastes can be satisfied. The food is truly delicious and presented in an appetizing way. The the home made desserts are not to be skipped!

Lemon pasta is awesome. Have to get that and I also got the octopus for the main. We dined there for lunch and was pretty quiet. The service was decent but didn’t feel anything special. Would try there for dinner for a better ambience but I’m sure there’s a line. The price is pretty high, but you can taste the quality of food and cooking. Will try again.
