- RRobCalgary / Southern Alberta •1 review5.0Dined 1 day agoReso for a party of seven at 6 p.m. on a Saturday. Everyone except me loves seafood, so take my food opinions with a grain of sea salt. I went with the only option I would enjoy: fish and chips. Unless it’s cold, fish and chips are always going to be good. These were the second best I’ve ever had. The fries were thin and cooked just right, the fish batter was thin and crispy, and the fish itself was incredibly flaky. The table also ordered calamari, and it smelled just like calamari should. They cleaned the plate quickly, so it must have been a hit. There were fish tacos that everyone loved, two orders of shrimp pasta with scallops (which, to me, looked inedible but were savored by the rest of the group), and several raw oysters that all the women loved. One person ordered a steak, and it was gone before I even got a good look—that’s always a good sign. There was also a lobster roll, and word is: the lobster meat IN the bun was fantastic. The only downside was the black cod dish. I don't ever eat sea food but it was clear to me the cod was undercooked. However, the seared tuna got the best reactions of the night. Everyone who tried it said it “melts in your mouth,” and their faces said it all. A++ for that dish! The atmosphere was excellent. It was noticeably clean, the tables weren’t sticky, and there was no overwhelming smell, which is impressive for a seafood restaurant. Walking into the restaurant wasn’t a dramatic, head-turning moment, but the ambiance was relaxed and welcoming. As for the service—this was, without a doubt, the best I’ve experienced in years. When we arrived at 5:45 p.m., it was about 20% full. By 7 p.m., it was fully seated. The managers, servers, bussers, and even the back-of-house worked like professionals not bar staff. The food was cooked in exactly the time you'd expect. The staff was polite, patient, and incredibly helpful.More infoRodney's Oyster House - CalgaryPrice: Expensive• Oyster Bar• Downtown•4.6

- KKristinaCalgary / Southern Alberta •1 review5.0Dined 5 days agoThis was our second visit to Major Tom! We absolutely love it. The food is amazing! The service is great! And the value for your dollar is amazing. We will be regular customers. The views are outstanding. The food came out very quickly, and very well presented. I absolutely love the shrimp and crab rolls and the potato donuts. Today we tried the sweet potato salad and the roasted beet salad and they were amazing!More infoMAJOR TOMPrice: Expensive• Continental• Downtown•4.7
