- HHenryVIPEdinburgh/Midlothian •65 reviews5.0Dined on Feb 20, 2025We have tried to get reservations for Johannes two or three times. It is very popular and for good reason: a good location and very good food. Johannes seems to look to details both in the food and its preparation and in the dining areas. We were seated in an area adjacent to the kitchen. The ceiling had acoustic baffle tiles to cut down on noise, both from the kitchen and other tables. Definitely a detail most restaurants don't consider. We had a mixed salad that we split; One of us had classic Wiener Schnitzel and one of us had s special Wiener Schnitzel (called Papa's) which was Wiener Schnitzel, topped With Pineapple Sauerkraut, Gruyere & Fontina Cheese, Chives, and Parsley. Both Wiener Schnitzels were perfectly cooked with the breading properly crisp without the meat being overdone. The portions are large. We each took half of the Schnitzel home. For dessert, we split a nice Apple Strudel. The waiter was attentive and helpful. We will be going back to Johannes.More infoJohannesPrice: Expensive• Modern European• Palm Springs•4.8
- DDeliaVIPChicago / Illinois •43 reviews5.0Dined on Feb 20, 2025Overall experience was excellent. I highly recommend the restaurant for its ambiance, excellent service, & innovative presentation of classic dishes such as bouillabaisse which included andouille sausage and an outstanding side of herbed mayonnaise . The octopus appetizer was very generous in portion size & included delicious potatoes & two sauces. We had to lap up every drop of sauce with our bread after finishing the very tender delicious octopus. The side order of potatoes were drizzled with two sauces that were superb . The deserts we loved included the sorbet trio & in particular, the blueberry basil sorbet. My vary favorite dish of the evening was the cheesecake stuffed fried blossom over a blueberry compote. The cocktails are innovative. My only mild disappointment was the coq a vin. The sauce was good but the vegetables were a bit undercooked & the chicken was on the dry side. In summary, a wonderful dining experience that i would most definitely like to repeat.More info4 SaintsPrice: Very Expensive• Contemporary American• Palm Springs•4.5
