Thomas Makris, from the Island of Skopelos, fell in love when he met Helen Babalos. They met at Orestes Greek restaurant in 1974, while on a Greek dancing tour of North America. Soon after their marriage, they had a vision to open a place like no other in Vancouver; a Greek restaurant where everyone is family; where everyone receives a consistent experience created by delicious homemade authentic food and impeccable service. In 1984 they opened Anatoli Souvlaki in north Vancouver.     As well as the excellent service and cuisine, I particularly enjoy the ambiance in the restaurant at night when it is dark outside. The dining room lighting is kept dim and the individual table lights give just enough warm indirect task lighting to the table top. So you can have a cozy dim ambiance for the room and are able to read the menu and see the meal. Ambiance is as important as the cuisine to me.

    Loved it. Staff is SUPER friendly and always looking after your well-being. They separated our salad into separate dishes knowing that we were sharing (without our request) and had the tongs ready to go to share our pastas. The pasta portions were large and definitely worth it. Affogato to finish!
