Best Restaurants for Special Occasions in Lynchburg

Best pasta in Roanoke and great woodfired pizza. The craft cocktails are also delicious.

My husband and I chose to take a road trip to Lynchburg to end our holiday break and he asked me to find a nice restaurant in town for our Saturday dining. I was definitely looking for a steakhouse and Shoemakers fit the bill. The restaurant is beautiful with an inviting atmosphere. Great cocktail list and some excellent wines to choose from as well. Waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable. I chose the ribeye on her recommendation which I could taste the char and fantastic grilled flavor it was just more medium than medium rare. Dessert was a derby pie that reminded me of my mother’s. We really had a lovely evening and would come back again.

Billy’s is always consistent in quality. Our waiter was great but the wrong appetizers were brought to our table and that server just looked confused and almost knocked over my wine glass. We never received our bread service during the meal, which is usually included. It was Christmas Eve so they were busy and seemed to be handling things well.

Wonderful place to meet up with friends! We met @ W&H for the first time on December 19, 2023, so naturally we went this year on December 19. And, you guessed it, plan to go on December 19, 2025!! Stephanie, our waitress, actually recognized us!! She was so attentive, personable and accommodating!! We lacked for nothing!! Wonderful atmosphere, excellent waitstaff and delicious food. Until next year - - - -
