Traditionally inspired from dishes, ingredients & techniques spanning the Malay archipelago, namely Singapore & Indonesia. Regionally influenced by Northern California’s palette of producers, produce, and presentation. Essentially: expressing these tropical, cosmopolitan island flavor profiles through the abundance of what thrives in Northern California’s Mediterranean climate and terrain.  Nusantara cuisines could be characterized as intense, rich, spiced (more than spicy). Steeped in time and layers of complexity, both in the kitchen and in the long history of diverse peoples in this part of the world. Chef Nora Haron draws from this wealth of culinary knowledge, plus contrasting Californian influences, which some could say to be the polar opposite: that deconstructed-composed, whole-ingredients-laid-bare simplicity, the lightness that has evolved in California eating through the few decades of this relatively young place.

This restaurant has been on our list for a while and we are glad we finally made it. The menu is a tad small, but they clearly go for quality over quantity. With our group of 4, all of our dishes were outstanding and appreciate them offering gluten free items. It was the first time in almost 15 years that I was able to enjoy gluten free bread at the table (the dipping oil was amazing). I had the fettuccini al fungi (with GF pasta) and it was light but with so much flavor. We were not as excited about the desserts as we were our dinner. We ordered the torta cioccolato and I suppose we expected a rich flourless chocolate torte but I re-read this to be a cake, so our error for that. The panna cotta was more jello like than the familiar smooth and creamy ones we have always had. The cocktails were also fantastic (must try the Aero Mexico). We will definitely return to Montesacro!

This family owned restaurant delivers on all fronts. The service is always friendly (shout out to Gabriel and Angel) and welcoming. The food is excellent (mussels, interesting tacos, guacamole, flan…etc. ). The patio ambiance is so pleasant. Nitpicking the only negatives: the high noise level is frustrating for my old ears, and I would like for them to expand the dinner menu so I have even more delicious choices. Oh there’s a full bar for the drinkers.

Long time friends joined us at La Sen Bistro for dinner when our Speaker Series Duo from LA cancelled their show. Waiter was fun and easy to engage. We had some giggles with him…. The food was wonderful

If you have time to enjoy an amazing brunch by chef Nora then you will be pleasantly surprised. The food is delicious, prepared to perfection, and equally visually appealing. I have filled her for years and the food she parpares never disappoints.
