The Abergavenny Arms serves a delightful mixture of traditional English Pub Classics. We source the ingredients from local producers wherever possible and all our food is freshly prepared and created in our kitchen. As one of the oldest Pubs in the country , dating back to 1450, we have a relaxed cosy restaurant with open fires and aged oak beams, and in the warmer days you can enjoy our sun trap garden with far reaching views over the Eridge Park Estate. Water Lane is a restaurant based within a working market garden in the High Weald of Kent. Guided by the seasons, our menu reflects its sense of place in the English countryside where we grow our own vegetables and use local suppliers. Our ever changing menu is simple but prepared with imagination and care by our Head Chef Jed Wrobel and his team.The Good Food Guide 2023 describes us as 'A contender for one of the most charming eateries in Kent, it's pretty much impossible to resist the lure of this rural restaurant tucked away in a delightful walled garden...' Nestling in the heart of the beautiful Kentish Weald-the Garden of England, the Star and Eagle Hotel is located in the village of Goudhurst. Standing over 400ft above sea level, there are outstanding views of the surrounding orchards and hop gardens for which the area is renowned. Dating back to the 14th century, the Star and Eagle has played a significant role in the local history, and was once reputed to have been an ancient monastery. Relics of the vaulted stonework of the period are still visible in some parts of the building. During the 18th century the Inn became the headquarters of the "Hawkhurst Gang", who robbed and terrorised the surrounding district, and planned smuggling raids. Today, behind its attractive timbered gables, the Star and Eagle offers all the comfort and facilities of a 20th century hotel with the charm and atmosphere of a bygone era. Open throughout the year, the Star and Eagle is less than three miles off the main A21 road with easy access.

Great Saturday morning family brunch at Water Lane. Nick and Ian do a brilliant job as hosts and the staff are so friendly and helpful with a large group and young children. Such delicious choices and the banana loaf with maple butter amazing. Great location and the glass houses just make it the most interesting place for brunch, lunch or dinner.

This is a restaurant for that very Special occasion....Why only Special? Because it is a Special place to enjoy fine dining at its best. Exquisite tasting plates of food, locally sourced alcohol, beautiful ambience, welcoming and attentive staff. It is on the higher price side but every mouthful is worth every penny. Thank you Tom, Your Head chef and all your staff for a Very Special Evening.

Great experience eating at Food for Friends. Lovely staff and the food was great. I enjoyed my started and dessert the most. The pineapple tart Tatin and the sticky toffee pudding is a must try!

What a fantastic find. The moment we arrived we were warmly greeted by the bar and waiting staff. Very attentive throughout. A lovely cosy atmosphere as you would want from an English pub, Food choices were varied and suited all tastes and the standard of cuisine was very good. We live in France so for us this was a treat and we will be back
