- SSanjayVIPToronto / Ontario •35 reviews5.0Dined 1 day agoWe go to this place once every year at Christmas time to celebrate a birthday. I believe this is the 3rd or 4th year of us going back. It is a great spot — really good food and ambience. The service was incredible — we were assisted by Jack and his service, attention to detail, demeanour, positive vibes, etc etc was unbelievably good. It was such a pleasure all evening. When he realized we were celebrating a birthday he offered a Molton chocolate cake dessert on the house even though we had paid the bill, we asked for a cocktail recipe and he hand wrote it for us. It was little gestures like this that make it memorable. It made a really good dinner to be great and for that we are very appreciative.More infoTenPrice: Expensive• Japanese• Charlottesville•4.9
- GGwynneVirginia •38 reviews5.0Dined 1 day agoWow, just wow - the food is outstanding. We had 4 in our party and everyone got steak - rib-eye, NY, and filet (2). They were all cooked perfectly and the portions are large. We had sides of smashed potatoes and mushrooms - both were outstanding. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. John, our server, was great. He was perfectly attentive and time everything very well. The salad that comes with the dinner is underwhelming - I like my salad lightly dressed however it tasted like there was no dressing at all. That could definitely be better. If I would change one thing, it would be the seating. The tables along the back are high tables with chairs and a bench. Unless you are very tall, the table is high so you feel your face is too close to the table and the seating just isn't very comfortable. I hope to sit in a booth sometime which looks much more comfortable. Overall we will definitely be back to enjoy the amazing food and highly recommend Black Cow!More infoBlack Cow ChophousePrice: Expensive• Steakhouse• Charlottesville•4.9

- JJayWashington, D.C. Area •4 reviews5.0Dined on Dec 19, 2024I chose this place mostly based upon other reviews. Just looking at a few photos posted and seeing their plated dishes I knew it would be great quality food. They delivered on all aspects. They offered to take our coats upon arrival and seated us at a table for two by a window. Our server, Logan, was very attentive and answered all of our questions about the menu. We let him know we were in town for a show at the arena, so he made a point to timing everything to keep us on track. The stuffed wild mushroom appetizer was delicious as was the main course. We had the beef tenderloin and raviolis. Everything was cooked to perfection; both excellent choices. The wines by the glass are a limited subset of their offerings, but there are enough options. We skipped dessert, but indulged in coffee. Once again the expresso and cappuccino were perfect. Our show that night was enjoyable, but my date made more mention of how great dinner was than anything else. Great choice for a date night.More infoHamiltons' At First & MainPrice: Moderate• Contemporary American• Charlottesville•4.7
